Privacy & browser storage

Who is responsible
David H., Czech Republic, operates EFT Companion at eft-companion.com (with a test copy at staging.eft-companion.com) and is the controller of your personal data. Contact: neonitgames@gmail.com.
What we use and why
We use your username, password hash, account and profile identifiers, saved game progress, settings and login timestamps to provide and secure your account. We use friend and party relationships and the progress you choose to share to provide social features. The legal basis for these requested services is performance of our agreement with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)). A username and password are required for an account; optional uploads and sharing are not. We do not ask for your game password.
Screenshots and support
Recognition screenshots are uploaded to our server and processed in memory; the recognition handler does not save the original image. You can save the extracted game progress to your profile. Support reports, their context and attached screenshots are stored for you and the administrator. Crop out unrelated people, chat, passwords and private information before uploading. Confirmed quest-name corrections improve recognition for everyone without storing the contributor’s username.
Sharing and other services
New accounts start with progress sharing off. In Friends you can choose a profile and enable sharing of level, game edition, task status, objective progress and Tetriz scores with accepted friends, then switch it off at any time. A second, separate switch, off by default, also shares your full profile with them: character name and faction, skills, the public tarkov.dev statistics and achievements you imported, trader loyalty and reputation, and hideout levels; never your settings, trader spending or equipment. Existing accounts keep their previous choice. A player lookup sends the nickname or account ID you enter to tarkov.dev; import your own profile or one you are authorised to use. A character imported from tarkov.dev keeps that account ID, and our server looks it up again once a night (about 03:00 Prague time) to refresh the character’s name, level, faction, skills, statistics and achievements; Unlink in Profile → Character stops this and removes the saved statistics and achievements. Some images load directly from assets.tarkov.dev, which receives your IP address and normal connection information. External links contact their destination when opened.
Goons sightings
When you report where you met the Goons, we store the game mode, the map and the time, not your account, show the report to everyone using the app and delete it after seven days. To stop repeated reports, recent reports per account are counted in server memory only, for at most ten minutes.
Hosting, contact and security
The application server is hosted with Oracle in Germany. The domain eft-companion.com is registered with Porkbun, whose name servers (run with Cloudflare) answer address lookups for it; they do not receive your account data. The operator and hosting provider process data to operate the service. Email sent to neonitgames@gmail.com is handled through Gmail (Google). Oracle, Google and external content providers may involve processing outside the EEA under their applicable service terms and transfer arrangements; server location alone does not mean every recipient is in Germany. Contact us for information about applicable safeguards. Security logs and short-lived abuse controls support our legitimate interest in preventing misuse (Article 6(1)(f)); privacy requests are handled to meet our legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)). We do not sell personal data, serve advertising or use marketing or third-party analytics; the only statistics are our own, described below. We do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
How long data stays
Account data and open support reports remain while your account exists, unless you ask for earlier removal where applicable. Resolved or closed support reports and screenshots are removed after 90 days, with hourly cleanup. Administration history is kept for up to 90 days. Login sessions expire after seven days. Request logs are rotated daily and removed within 15 days; operational security logs rotate with a 90-day retention setting. Abuse-control identifiers are kept only in server memory; rate-limit windows last at most one hour. Database backups expire after 14 days, with daily cleanup; deletion markers are retained for 15 days to prevent restoration of deleted accounts. A restoration must apply current deletion markers before reopening the service. Email requests are retained while being handled and for up to 12 months afterwards to document the response, unless a specific legal obligation or dispute requires longer retention.
Usage statistics
To see how the service is used and plan its capacity, we record on which days each account was active and keep daily totals of active accounts, sign-ups and login page views per country. The country is looked up from the IP address at the moment of the visit, in an offline database (DB-IP) on our server; the address is not stored for this and nothing is sent to anyone. Active days are kept 90 days, deleted with your account and included in your data download; the daily totals contain no account or address and are kept about 13 months. Only the administrator sees them. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the service (Article 6(1)(f)); you can object with a privacy support request.
Cookies and browser storage
We use necessary login storage and preferences for features you request, without an advertising-cookie banner. The eft_session cookie keeps you signed in to eft-companion.com for seven days and is removed on logout. The earlier address, eft-companion.duckdns.org, now only redirects here; a sign-in or preferences saved under it are not carried over and stay in your browser until you clear them. Browser storage remembers your language (eft-lang), selected profile (eft-selected-profile), sound (loot-match-sound) and friends panel (eft-friends-dock, and its open tab in eft-friends-tab). Preferences remain until changed or cleared; tab storage ends with the tab. Legacy eft-settings and eft-companion-v1 saves may remain from older versions. You can clear this site’s browser storage through Account & privacy or your browser; clearing legacy saves removes those local copies. Blocking necessary storage can prevent login or remembering preferences.
Your choices and rights
Use Account & privacy to download your account data or delete your account after confirming your password. You can correct game progress and profile names in the app. For access, correction, erasure, restriction, applicable portability or objection to legitimate-interest processing, use a privacy support request or email neonitgames@gmail.com. We normally respond within one month; we explain any lawful extension within that period. We may verify account ownership without asking for unnecessary identity documents. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Administrator account deletion is handled directly by the operator.
Communication languages
Support is available only in English or Czech. Ordinary messages in other languages will not receive a reply; please resend them in English or Czech. Privacy requests and other communications that require a response by law are assessed regardless of language.
